SBMS Commitment Tracking (Buyline-Level) – Step‑by‑Step User Guide

This guide walks users through how to:

  1. Set up Commitments in SBMS
  2. Assign Commitments at the buyline level in media schedules
  3. Validate the updates in Analytics
  4. Understand reporting behavior

Setting Up Commitments

  1. Navigate to Master Data | Commitment Screen and Enter Commitments
  2. Click Search to view existing Commitments
  3. Enter new or edit exiting Commitment details in Commitment grid
  4. Enter Commitment Name
  5. Select Commitment Type Vendor or Owner
  6. Select Media (multi-select) ONLY when Commitment Type = Vendor
  7. Select Owner/Vendor Name (multi-select) 
  8. Select Client (multi-select). 
    1. Leave blank to apply the Commitment to all clients OR
    2. Select one or more clients
  9. Enter Start Date, End Date, Budget Type and Budget
  10. Save Commitment Details

Assigning Commitments in Media Schedules

Commitments can be used in:

  • Spot → Buy → Scheduling
  • Network → Buy → Scheduling
  • Print → Buy → Print Scheduling (Vendor Commitments - ONLY)
  • Outdoor → Buy → Outdoor Scheduling (Vendor Commitments - ONLY)
  • Digital → Buy → Media Plan


Step 1: Add the Commitment Field to the Scheduling grid

  1. Got Schedule → Show/Hide Columns
  2. Check Commitment field and click OK.

     

Step 2: Assign a Commitment to a Buyline 

  1. Locate the Commitment column
  2. Click the dropdown
  3. Choose the appropriate Commitment

    📌 Commitments will only appear if they match:
    • The Client of the estimate
    • Date overlap between Estimate + Commitment
    • The Vendor/Owner on the buyline
    • Print/OOH Commitments MUST be Vendor Commitments

Step 3: Bulk Assign Commitments

  1. Choose the Commitment
  2. Select multiple buylines
  3. Right‑click → Update Commitment for Selected Buyline

Commitment Records: Restrictions After a Buyline Is Applied

Once a commitment is used on a buyline, the following cannot be changed:

  • Deleting or renaming the commitment
  • Changing the Commitment Type of Owner or Vendor
  • Deleting a Vendor tied to any applied buyline
  • Deleting a Media Type used in an applied buyline
  • Shortening the commitment’s date range if those dates have been used

Commitment Changes Allowed at Any Time

These updates are always permitted and do not affect existing buylines:

  • Adding new Media Types, Clients, or Vendors
  • Updating the value or cost basis (impacts reporting only)
  • Extending the commitment’s date range

Digital Workflow Notes (OneStrata Digital)

⚠️ Important: The Commitment field is not displayed in OneStrata Digital.
✔ However — it can be assigned in the SBMS Digital Media Plan.
