Nielsen Local Dailies Data Delivery Changes

Nielsen announced that they are implementing improvements to their measurement methodology going live October 2019. Nielsen will include PPM measurement in 44 markets (all  25 of the current LPM markets and 19 Set Meter markets). They will also enhance their metered measurement with Return-Path Data (RPD) and National People Meters (NPM) in 12 Set Meter and 15 Code Reader markets. The Local Dailies data delivery timelines will be affected when the new methodology goes live, starting with data delivered on Friday, October 4, 2019. Specifically, the 12 Set Meter+RPD markets will get Live+SD overnights two days following airing. Read below for more details.

Data delivery for the 25 LPM+PPM markets and 19 SM+PPM markets will be affected as follows:
  • The Live+SD stream gets delivered later in the day, but remains on the same schedule they have been, that is one day after the day of airing, or data date+1.
  • The Live+1 stream gets delivered 2 days earlier than it was previously. Effectively data date+3 instead of data date+5.
  • Live+3 (data date+5) and Live+7 (data date+8) streams’ delivery stays the same.
Data delivery for the 12 SM+RPD markets will be affected as follows:
  • The Live+SD stream gets delivered one day later than current delivery, or data date+2 instead of data date+1. NOTE: Prelim Program names are still coming in on the same schedule as they were previously, but Final Names come in on the same day as the data.
  • The Live+1 stream gets delivered 1 day earlier than it was previously, data date+4.
  • Live+3(data date+6) and Live+7 (data date+9) streams get pushed out one more day.
See attached for a list of markets by measurement type.

A new version of STORMProcess will be required to install the data for the SM+PPM and SM+RPD markets.
  • For STORM databases v2.3.6, STORMProcess v4.3.0.4 is required.
  • For STORM databases v3.0+ STORMProcess v5.0.0.11 is required.
For STORMProcess, we expect that there will be MISSING records for the SM+RPD markets that should get cleaned up as the data is delivered “late”.
